Yes, I just shared that on my BLOG.

There are a few common themes to many of my blog posts… One happens to be

CLEANLINESS

If you have read some of my posts, you know I struggle with this. To say I am unorganized is an understatement. If you ask my husband he would probably compare me to a hoarder

This is an ugly part of my life that I can easily avoid here in my blog. It is easy for me to just show you the good part ~ the things that make me look like I have it all together. But that’s not me… I don’t want to produce a pseudo-Kim here…

So this is me…

doing bible study

And this is my house…

I know ~ GHASP! I don’t know why he stays either, but I am counting my blessings!

And this is what I have discovered…

1. Children work for minimal wages {like ice cream}.
2. I will not iron ~ so if it requires ironing, don’t buy it.
3. Just because it’s on sale doesn’t make it a deal.
4. If I don’t have enough hangers, it’s time to clean out the closet.
5. You don’t need to take EVERY hand me down item someone gives you.
6. If you are out of clothes:
DO ~laundry DON’T ~buy more.
7. I probably won’t do it later, so I need to do it now {aka - PROCRASTINATION}
8. Buying more laundry baskets just requires more laundry to fill them up.

AND YES MY FRIENDS…
He does laundry!
I know, I’ll keep him!

What are some of your rules for yourself… How do you keep on top of the chores?
I could use a little help here!

  1. DO laundry, DON'T buy more. Love that... great advice! :0) I have a never-ending pile of laundry at my house, which sometimes looks just like yours, by the way. I am not the neatest person in the world either.
My only tip is to put God first and let the rest fall into place. When I do that, I find that there is ample time to clean and craft AND blog. When I try to blog or craft first, I get carried away and then there's no time for cleaning and sadly, no time for God either.

  2. I love this post. Thank you for being REAL and HONEST about yourself! This makes me think I should do a post like this too. My laundry never stops. Doesn't help that I had to change my daughter's bedding 3 times yesterday! It feels overwhelming at times. I just try to do little bits but it never looks perfect...and probably never will!! :) Been learning a lot of good lessons on what to keep lately.

  3. the sad truth... i hate to iron and i used to just throw it in the dryer with a sprinkle of water for a "fluff" now the place i live in with husband has a laundry unit downstairs and its a 1.00 to use it at all...which ruined my habit.
to keep myself on top of my chores, i literally created a list and schedule. i'm a nerd but it works, i find if i do maintence and then schedule the big stuff weekly i never feel TOO overwhelemed.

  4. Kim, I love your transparency. And let's be honest-- ALL of our homes have looked like this from time to time. Specifically on Mondays at my house because I spend my weekends enjoying my family and the house ends up looking like a tornado went through. :)

    But!!
There is hope. Make yourself a schedule (I know, BORING!) and stick to it. My current schedule requires that I get up at dark o'clock every day (which is not my nature AT ALL), but it has been revolutionary. Seriously. I think I might be a reformed morning person, now. :). I get so much more done during the day, and don't stay up too late wasting time online or watching TV because...shocker!... I'M TIRED at a reasonable hour. Amazing how that all works. ;)
Alright, I gotta go fold laundry before school pick-up. Glorious lives we lead.

  6. Ugh, I struggle with laundry as well.
I *try* to do a load a day, if I can keep up with doing that it seems to help.
But in reality, I struggle with it.

  7. oh girlfriend, it sounds as if me and you need to go to therapy for the same issues! lol :) Longtime procrastinator over here and I just can't seem to get better. I'm so proud of you for showing us pictures of your house because that is our reality :) Every.single.night I go to sleep feeling like I just didn't get enough done around the house... ugh. I read somewhere that naturally creative people tend to be messy.. not sure where I read that (or maybe I made that up) but it makes me feel a little bit better when I spend more time being creative instead of taking care of household stuff :)
