20 Questions with Kim

I wish I could just call up one of you and invite over for coffee… I’d just love to sit on the couch and hear what you’d have to say… Advice. Questions.
Honest Real Conversation.
So that’s where 20 Questions came about… It’s my way to get to hear from some lovely ladies… This month I’ve asked some of my favorite bloggers to chat it up with me...

Here’s 20 Questions with a fellow “Kimberlee” from…

A Cuppa Kim

  1. If you could choose any mentor, who would it be? Such a toughie. I think this is the hardest question here. Basically I want anyone who truly loves Jesus, obeys him, and has a transformed life because of His work to speak into my life. Luckily I have a good handful of these people around me a lot of the time. Praise God for blessings like that.
  2. What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Cleaning the bathroom. So nasty. McNasty.
  3. What is a typical day for you?  Snooze 3 times, get up, make coffee and my lunch, sit and do my quiet time, get showered & dressed, work, lunch break where I visit my parents and pup, back to work, and then the evening always holds something different. Gym, friend time, cooking dinner, getting crafty, being lazy. Read, and then bed time. I love bed time.
  4. If you knew Jesus was coming tomorrow, what would be different?  The right answer is to say nothing. Honestly, I'd probably be more open and bold about Jesus, to my friends, family and coworkers, and EVERYONE I met. I think I'd be on the street corner being THAT person. Convicting question.
  5. What is your wardrobe must have? Jeans and my NorthFace fleece.  My office doesn't seem to heat well in the winter, and so basically this is what my coworkers see me in every stinking day.
  6. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would love to be able to sew. I took a class in Elementary school at a local fabric store with my sister and some friends. We made tote bags which turned out great, and then PJ bottoms. I picked a fabric with pigs racing on them. It was hideous. And my workmanship was not quite well done. I think they got tossed right away. All I want to do now is be able to sew myself a cute fabric bunting. But I'm way too lazy to deal with things like ironing fabric beforehand. I am a low maintenance crafter. And sewing may not be high maintenance, but for me it is.
  7. Why did you start blogging? I have actually had blogs on and off since I was in college - I had an Open Diary, a Xanga, a Wordpress blog or two, and now I'm here. Most of the time I didn't tell people about them.  When I started www.acuppakim.com it started because I was thinking up a new Twitter name! I wanted something fun and unique. Once I thought up @CuppaKim I thought, hey what if I blogged about Tea and Cupcakes...and Coffee....and Hot Dogs and so I whipped up a quick little blogspot. It was a bit of a slow start - I blogged a few times the first few months, and now I blog several times a week. About more stuff than just hot dogs ;)
  8. If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to? Tough question. When I was little I decided to change my voice to a very high pitched squeal, move my part to the other side, and go by the name Sally. Obviously all three stuck.
  9. What is ALWAYS in your fridge or pantry? Milk, eggs, and ingredients for chocolate chip cookies.
  10. What is your favorite quote? Favorite bible verse? Right now I'm obsessed with so many different verses from the Psalms, especially Psalm 62 "For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. " (Psalm 62:5-7 ESV)
  11. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Pay off my family's debt, and my mortgage/student loans. And give, give, give.
  12. What are you hoping to get for Christmas? I asked for a 35mm prime lens for my camera and the Bissell SpotBot. Yep, I'm a nerd. A nerd who wants clean carpets and gorgeous photos.
  13. It’s a rainy day and you’re all alone… What do you do with your time? Funny question. This was my day yesterday. Pouring rain. Holiday from work. I did my quiet time, ran a bunch of errands.  Cleaned my craft room and worked on some crafts. Walked my pup. And finished the day snuggled in my reading nook with endless cups of tea and my nose in my Kindle.
  14. What is your favorite color? Right now I just love COLOR in general. Lots of bright colors, in crazy combos. Orange and Turquoise. Red and turquoise. Purple, Yellow, and Orange.
  15. Have you ever had something happen to you that you thought was bad but it turned out to be for the best? All. The. Time. Isn't that how God works? We pray, beg, and ask for things, and so often the answer is no. And later we find out he had something so much better in store for us? Specifically, I bought my condo through a First Time Homebuyer Program - you go on a wait list, and they call you when a condo becomes available. I was called and told I was 2nd in line for a 1 bedroom, so I went and took a look. I was so excited to own my own home. But #1 ended up buying it. I was devastated, and so disappointed. Only a few months later I was called again, this time, I was eligible for a 1 bedroom + loft (essentially two bedroom), with two walk-in closets, more natural light, and kitchen upgrades along with a few other things the other unit didn't have.  Same price. God was so gracious and good to me. I know my home was from Him, and is to be used FOR Him. A blessing truly for His Glory and my good.
  16. What is your favorite book? Movie? TV Show? Book? So many books I love. This year I read the Hunger Games. I also just finished reading Divergent last night. Both SO. GOOD. I also really recommend Big God: What Happens When We Trust Him by Britt Merrick.  And anything by John Piper - one of my favorites is a short 31 day devotional Pierced by the Word: Thirty-One Meditations for Your Soul. Movie is a HARD one - my favorite genre is "High Maintenance Girl meets Low Maintenance Situation" - isn't that a genre? You can find it between RomCom and RomDram. (Think The Proposal, Leap Year, New In Town, Sweet HomeAlabama, ) TV shows? Hmmm, right now I'm way into PanAM. I love seeing the places they end up - and it's kind of awesome that I have been to a few of them myself (Like Monte Carlo!)
  17. What did you do growing up that got you into trouble? Basically everything. I was feisty. Sassy. And talked back. Who am I kidding. I still am, and still do. *working on that*
  18. When is your birthday? Eight-Twenty-Eight.
  19. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? Worst? I have been on the receiving end of so many great gifts - but one that comes to mind is an iHome stereo for my kitchen - the two high school girls I had in my bible study for several years arranged it as a group gift and I was just so honored that they thought to do that. As for the worst...I'm going to say no comment.
  20. What story does your family always tell about you? A few good ones. One of my favorites is when I was about 2 years old I received a check from my great-grandmother for my birthday, and when I opened the card I held up the check and yelled MONEYYYYY!!!
